The International Energy Forum is an informal gathering of energy
ministers from energy producing and consuming countries with aim
of building confidence, exchanging information, and developing a
better understanding of the underlying energy issues affecting the
world. The gathering started in 1991 in Paris and convened in different
parts of the world, the Sixth being in Cape Town, South Africa 1998.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is proud to host the Seventh International
Energy Forum in its capital city, Riyadh from 17 to 19 November
2000. The theme of the Seventh Forum, Energy partnership for a New
Century, aims at addressing common concerns such as world energy
outlook, energy industry and market restructuring, and the relationship
between energy, technology and sustainable development. The Forum
is co-sponsored by Japan and the Netherlands. Through the contribution
of renowned experts and academicians, and the active participation
of high level policy makers, the Seventh International Energy Forum
will contribute to advancement of the dialogue between oil and gas
producers and consumers for the attainment of stable and transparent
energy markets, sustainable development and a healthy world economy.
